National Day/ Costa Rica's Ambassador to QNA: QND Marks Significant Milestone in Qatar's History
Doha, December 17 (QNA) - HE Ambassador of the Republic of Costa Rica to the State of Qatar Juan Carlos Esquivel stressed that Qatar National Day (QND) represents a significant milestone in Qatar's history and an invaluable opportunity to reflect on the deep and fruitful ties that unite the State of Qatar and Costa Rica.
In his remarks to Qatar News Agency (QNA), His Excellency said: "The two nations have many similarities, both in our aspirations and in the challenges we face. The integrity and respect we have cultivated over the years are a testament to the joint effort of our governments and the people of Costa Rica and Qatar. We have earned the respect of other countries in the region through our actions and our policies, and that is why stability in our bilateral relations is a fundamental characteristic of both nations."
His Excellency added that QND is a moment of profound pride and unity and a day when citizens and residents alike come together to celebrate the country's achievements, cultural identity, and shared sense of belonging. He highlighted that QND reflects not only Qatar's deep respect for its history and traditions but also its confidence in a future built on progress, inclusivity, and innovation.
His Excellency noted the State of Qatar's reputation as a trusted mediator that contributes to resolving disputes and settling conflicts. He stressed that Qatar and Costa Rica promote peace and security efforts and work tirelessly to consolidate the principles of international law and promote the spirit of multilateralism.
His Excellency indicated that Qatar's diplomacy is distinguished by its consistency, credibility, and commitment to dialogue. Qatar has demonstrated remarkable effectiveness in promoting peaceful resolutions to conflicts and in fostering communication among diverse international actors.
His Excellency underscored that Qatar's balanced foreign policy, grounded in mutual respect and humanitarian principles, has positioned it as a trusted mediator and constructive partner in global affairs. This approach not only enhances regional stability but also contributes significantly to international peace efforts and multilateral cooperation.
His Excellency said that Qatar's development over the past years has been truly remarkable. Qatar has successfully diversified its economy, advanced its infrastructure, and invested heavily in human capital, sustainability, and innovation. The achievements in education, health, technology, and sports reflect a strategic vision that balances modernization with cultural preservation.
HE the Ambassador of the Republic of Costa Rica to the State of Qatar emphasized that what stands out most is Qatar's ability to combine ambition with a deep sense of purpose - transforming challenges into opportunities for progress and inclusion.
His Excellency indicated that Both countries share a commitment to promote sustainable development and protect our environment, principles that are more relevant today than ever when both countries are in a fight against global warming. He pointed out that Costa Rica leads with its biodiversity, and Qatar seeks, through its National Vision 2030, to reduce arid areas and increase green areas.
"The relations between our two countries are characterized by friendship, mutual respect, and growing cooperation. Over the years, we have witnessed a steady strengthening of our bilateral ties, particularly in areas such as trade, education, sustainable development, and cultural exchange," His Excellency said.
His Excellency indicated that the last two years, Costa Rica has achieved a remarkable increase in its exports to Qatar, with an impressive 40.17 percent more compared to 2023. This growth is not a mere statistical fact; It represents a growing trust and a shared commitment to building a prosperous future for both nations.
His Excellency said: "Today, we can proudly state that we have doubled our imports and exports between Costa Rica and Qatar. This achievement not only demonstrates Costa Rica's interest in increasing its exports of live plants, ceramic products, machinery and electrical appliances, but also reflects Qatar's interest in increasing its exports of petroleum derivatives and decorative panels to our country."
His Excellency concluded his statements to QNA by saying: "Last year, we had the honor of receiving HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, whose visit resulted in the signing of several agreements that will further strengthen our relations in crucial areas such as trade, sports, science, education and technology, fields in which exchanges are already taking place. These agreements are a tangible manifestation of our joint will to move towards more robust and effective cooperation." (QNA)
