Doha, December 12 (QNA) - Brazilian side Flamengo will take on Egypt's Pyramids FC Saturday in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup semifinal at Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium in Qatar.
The winner will face UEFA Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain in the final on December 17.
Flamengo, recent Copa Libertadores and Brazilian league champions, aim to secure their second intercontinental title after their 1981 triumph. Coach Filipe Luis leads a star-studded squad featuring Giorgian De Arrascaeta, Leo Pereira, Alex Sandro, Samuel Lino, and Jorge Carrascal.
Pyramids, 2024 Egypt Cup winners, are eyeing a historic final appearance. Led by Croatian coach Krunoslav Jurčić, the team includes key players like Ahmed El-Shenawy, Mohamed Hamdy, Mohanad Lasheen, Mostafa Fathi, and Congolese striker Fiston Mayele. Marwan Hamdy and Walid El Karti are also expected to feature.
Pyramids qualified after a 3–1 win over Saudi Arabia's Al-Ahli in September.
Qatar hosted the first edition of the revamped tournament last year, where Real Madrid claimed their fourth title. Other three-time winners include Boca Juniors, AC Milan, Peñarol, and Nacional. (QNA)
