Doha, November 05 (QNA) - HE Minister of Social Development and Family Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi said that the State of Qatar is steadily advancing in strengthening its partnership with civil society organizations, believing that comprehensive and sustainable social development cannot be achieved without the genuine and active participation of these organizations, which represent the voice of communities and contribute to shaping and implementing public policies to ensure a tangible impact on the ground.
This came during Her Excellency's opening speech at the Civil Society Forum, held as part of the second World Summit for Social Development, taking place in Doha.
The Civil Society Forum is organized by the NGO Committee on Social Development, in cooperation with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA).
Her Excellency stressed that Qatar regards civil society as a key partner in achieving development, noting the country's pioneering experience during its hosting of the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5) in 2023, where Qatar ensured that civil society was present as a partner in dialogue and decision-making, which was achieved through an integrated forum that strengthened international solidarity and established the principle of partnership-based development.
The Ministry of Social Development and Family is working on expanding volunteering opportunities and community initiatives, thereby enhancing the role of individuals, institutions, and civil society in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), HE the Minister said, adding that the national strategy for social development 2025–2030, launched under the theme "From Care to Empowerment," was the fruit of extensive consultations with experts, families, and civil society institutions, an approach that helped define its priorities, ensure its effectiveness, and guarantee the sustainability of its outcomes.
Her Excellency also affirmed that the State of Qatar supports programs aligned with the SDGs, and works to promote informed civic participation, particularly among women and the youth, by enabling them to take part in designing and monitoring the implementation of social, educational, and health services, as well as in building more inclusive and equitable social protection systems.
In conclusion, HE Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi emphasized that the Doha Political Declaration, the main outcome of the Summit, embodies a renewed global commitment to building fair, inclusive, and sustainable economic, social, and cultural foundations, upholding justice, equality, and human dignity, and advancing the path toward sustainable social development.
