Doha, November 26 (QNA) - The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and Qatar Tourism (QT) announced the launch of the digital transformation roadmap for the tourism sector during a joint press conference held Wednesday as part of the MWC25 Doha conference, organized by GSMA in partnership with the Ministry.
The announcement marks a significant step toward enhancing Qatar's tourism ecosystem and improving visitor experiences through the adoption of advanced technologies, the development of agile digital services, and greater integration between government platforms and the tourism industry.
Speaking at the press conference, MCIT's Assistant Undersecretary for Digital Industry Affairs Reem Mohammed Al Mansoori described the collaboration as a new model for strategic national partnerships.
She highlighted the establishment of the tourism digital transformation office, a joint institutional platform aimed at fostering innovation and service development. Together, the two entities have crafted a comprehensive roadmap prioritizing over 39 strategic digital initiatives, ranging from next-generation visitor experience platforms to AI-enhanced services and predictive analytics.
Al Mansoori noted that these initiatives are designed to drive the tourism sector toward full digital transformation, structured around three core pillars: visitor experience and destination promotion, sector data management, and system operations and service delivery.
She emphasized that this approach aligns with Qatar's vision to build a competitive digital economy and increase the ICT sector's contribution to GDP by approximately QAR 195 million through improved productivity, service efficiency, and new growth opportunities.
Head of Tourism Development at Qatar Tourism Omar Al Jaber affirmed that the roadmap, developed in partnership with the Ministry, represents a qualitative leap in building a world-class tourism ecosystem.
He explained that the use of artificial intelligence and data-driven analytics will enable personalized experiences, attract more visitors, and strengthen Qatar's position as a leading regional destination.
He added that implementing the roadmap will allow the tourism sector to develop advanced services that completely reshape the visitor journey.
He pointed to the upcoming launch of an integrated visitor application in 2026, which will redefine the tourism experience by serving as a digital companion from exploration to interaction and on-site services.
The collaboration between the Ministry and Qatar Tourism includes a suite of projects such as developing an advanced visitor app, creating a smart platform for visitor data analytics to support planning and decision-making, building a unified portal for event licensing, establishing an AI-powered tourism marketing center, implementing a sophisticated system for managing MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) events, designing integrated tools for tourism asset planning, launching a portal to boost tourism investment, and deploying a comprehensive platform for sustainable tourism.
The roadmap is a product of the Digital Transformation Offices initiative led by the Ministry, aimed at building integrated digital ecosystems across key sectors including tourism, transport and logistics, infrastructure, and healthcare.
These offices focus on driving innovation, empowering the private sector, enhancing user experience, and placing artificial intelligence at the heart of every sectoral roadmap, transforming service delivery, decision-making, and data management. (QNA)
