Cairo, November 02 (QNA) - Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Saturday inaugurated the Grand Egyptian Museum, amid monumental international attention and unprecedented global anticipation.

The inauguration ceremony took place at the Grand Egyptian Museum overlooking the historic Giza Pyramids, with wide participation including 79 official delegations from heads of state, government leaders, ministers, and officials from regional and international organizations.

Addressing the ceremony, President El-Sisi affirmed that this inauguration writes a new chapter in the history of Egypt's present and future.

This is the largest museum in the world dedicated to a single civilization, the enduring civilization of Egypt, he underlined.

He further emphasized that the museum represents a living testament to the journey of a people who have inhabited the Nile Valley since the dawn of history, noting that this edifice is not merely a repository for priceless antiquities, it stands as a vivid homage to the ingenuity of the Egyptian people who built the Pyramids.

This monumental achievement was realized through extensive global collaboration with leading global companies and institutions, El-Sisi highlighted. He called for the museum to serve as a platform for dialogue, a hub of knowledge, a gathering place for humanity, and a beacon for all who cherish life and uphold the dignity of humankind.

The inauguration featured spectacular performances inspired by ancient Egyptian civilization, including renditions by a world-class orchestra alongside musical and vocal presentations from various global regions.

Architecturally, the museum boasts a unique design overlooking the Giza Pyramids and spans approximately 490,000 square meters, establishing it as the largest museum of its kind in the world.

The Grand Staircase, flanked by towering statues of Egyptian kings and rising to six levels, provides a majestic visual journey.

The museum houses over 100,000 artifacts of ancient Egyptian civilization, including the complete collection of King Tutankhamun, exhibited for the first time in one location, comprising more than 5,000 of the king's treasures.

In addition, the museum showcases thousands of other artifacts narrating Egypt's history through the ages, serving as a living record of Egyptian civilization.

Beyond its exhibits, the museum encompasses a fully integrated city of culture and knowledge, featuring a world-class conservation center, modern exhibition halls, a dedicated children's museum, and diverse service and recreational areas, offering visitors an exceptional, immersive experience.

This landmark project underscores Egypt's commitment to preserving its unparalleled heritage while establishing a global hub for culture, education, and humanistic dialogue. (QNA)
