Municipality Ministry Announces Results of Most Beautiful Home and School Gardens Competition for 2025

Doha, November 19 (QNA) - The Ministry of Municipality announced the results of the competition for the most beautiful home and school gardens for the year 2025, which comes within the framework of the Ministry's efforts aimed at promoting the culture of afforestation and greening, improving the quality of life and general appearance in various regions of the country, supporting the initiative to plant 10 million trees, developing agricultural awareness, reducing the effects of climate change, and enhancing community partnership.
Organizing this competition confirms the Ministry of Municipality's keenness to involve community members and educational institutions in national efforts aimed at increasing the green area, improving the urban landscape, and enhancing community participation in preserving the environment and the beauty of cities, to achieve sustainable environmental development in line with the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.
Eng. Abdullah Ahmed Al Karani, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Services Affairs, stated that the competition for the most beautiful home and school garden represents one of the initiatives aimed at enhancing environmental culture and establishing the concept of sustainable agriculture among members of society, in support of the Ministry of Municipality's directives and to achieve the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030 in the field of environmental protection and increasing green spaces.
During the ceremony, Eng. Abdullah Al Karani announced the launch of the improved version of the Most Beautiful Home and School Garden Competition for the year 2026, which will witness an expansion in the scope of participation and provide the opportunity for innovative ideas that support sustainability and cosmetic agriculture. Stressing that the next version will enhance community presence and provide greater opportunities to highlight qualitative environmental initiatives as it is expected that the opening of registration for the competition will be announced during the coming period.
He explained that the entries submitted by the competitors reflected a high level of creativity and interest in home and school gardens and showed a growing environmental awareness among families and educational institutions during the honoring ceremony, stressing that this initiative has become an effective platform to highlight community efforts in caring for the environment and improving the urban appearance.
He also expressed his thanks and appreciation to the supervisory committee, jury committees and technical teams that contributed to the success of the competition, praising the level of wide participation that reflected the community's growing passion in the fields of afforestation, beautification and sustainable gardens, pointing out that the next edition will witness distinguished participation that reflects the growing interest in the environment and quality of life, stressing the Ministry's continued support for programs and initiatives that contribute to enhancing environmental awareness and achieving sustainable development in the State of Qatar.
The results of the competition resulted in the house of Sheikha Naila bint Fahd Al Thani from Al Dhaayen Municipality winning first place with a percentage of 86.2%, while the house of Mr. Muhammad Ali Al Ansari from Doha Municipality came in second place with a percentage of 76%, and the house of Mr. Nasser Al Ansari from Al Wakrah Municipality winning third place with a percentage of 75%.
In the most beautiful school garden competition, Ruqaya Preparatory School from Doha Municipality won first place with a rate of 86.2%, while Hattin Kindergarten and School from Doha Municipality won second place with a rate of 76%, and Hamza bin Abdul Muttalib School from Doha Municipality came in third place with a rate of 75%. The jury approved these results after careful review in accordance with approved technical supervisory standards.
The winners of the most beautiful home garden competition were awarded cash prizes of QR 15,000 for first place, QR 10,000 for second place, and QR 5,000 for third place, in addition to commemorative shields and certificates of appreciation.
As for the winners of the most beautiful school garden competition, they will be honored with shields and certificates of appreciation in recognition of their efforts in promoting a green school environment.
It is worth noting that 22 participants applied for the competition, 19 of whom were accepted after passing the technical criteria for the competition.
The winning garden in the School Gardens category was selected based on criteria including student participation in agriculture and plant care, good space planning, integrating agriculture into school activities, and providing agricultural awareness elements such as signboards, recycling bins, or educational boards within the garden. In addition to the school administration's continued interest in preserving and developing the garden. As for the home gardens category, the criteria were determined based on the beauty of the design, attention to cleanliness and continuous care, the diversity of plants, the use of modern irrigation methods, and the availability of elements of environmental sustainability.
The Ministry also called on citizens, residents and educational institutions to continue to pay attention to green spaces and participate in the upcoming editions of the competition in support of national initiatives in the field of environment and sustainable agriculture. (QNA)
