Syria Reopens Its Embassy in Britain After 14-Year Closure
Damascus, November 13 (QNA) - Syria announced Thursday the reopening of its embassy in the British capital, London, following the restoration of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the removal of President Ahmad Al Sharaa and Interior Minister Anas Khattab from international sanctions lists.
Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al Shaibani raised the national flag over the embassy building, marking the resumption of diplomatic operations after a closure that lasted nearly 14 years.
In a post on the platform X, Al-Shaibani said that after years of isolation imposed by the previous regime, they are reopening the Syrian embassy in London today, adding that Syria returns to the world with its free identity.
The move coincides with Al Shaibani's official visit to the United Kingdom, where he is holding talks with senior British officials aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and exploring avenues for joint cooperation.
It also follows the recent announcement by London and Washington lifting sanctions on Syrian President Ahmad Al Sharaa earlier this month, after a similar decision was adopted by the United Nations Security Council. (QNA)
