Doha, October 05 (QNA) - The Public Works Authority 'Ashghal' has announced the completion of the first phase of rehabilitation and improvement works on Corniche Street.
A statement from the authority on Sunday said the phase extended from Sharq Interchange to the Old Port Interchange as part of the authority's keenness to enhance driving experience, facilitate mobility, and raise the efficiency of infrastructure for the general benefit of all road users.
The statement added that the works require implementing a number of temporary traffic closures on parts of Corniche on the coming weekends, so that Ashghal team can complete repaving the asphalt layer of Corniche, as part of the road development and improvement plan.
The partial closures occur during night hours on weekdays to remove the old asphalt layer, and then a complete closure during the weekend to pave the new layer and renew the road markings, provided that the work is carried out in five successive stages, started from Sharq Interchange all the way to the Sheraton Interchange, so that each stage will include a specific part of the road weekly.
In order to facilitate movement and ensure traffic safety on the road, Ashghal coordinated directly with the General Directorate of Traffic, and provided alternative routes and clear, dynamic signboards for road users, in addition to launching a media campaign through Ashghal's social media platforms to clarify the details of the closures first-hand through maps and explanatory videos.
Ashghal urges all road users to adhere to the signboards, follow the traffic diversions shown on the roads, and use alternative routes. It also advises them to plan their trips in advance to avoid temporary congestion. They can also follow Ashghal's official channel on WhatsApp and its social media platforms for more updates and information. (QNA)
