Doha, October 29 (QNA) - Earthna Center for a Sustainable Future, a member of Qatar Foundation (QF), announced the details of the 10th edition of Qatar Sustainability Week (QSW), which will take place from November 1 to 8, 2025. The nationwide initiative will feature more than 400 activities across the country, focusing on promoting sustainable lifestyles, innovation, and community engagement.
During a press conference held at Education City, Earthna explained that the week, organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC), serves as a national platform bringing together individuals, institutions, corporations, government entities, and civil society organizations to strengthen sustainable practices, showcase innovative initiatives, and encourage public participation in sustainability activities across Qatar.
Executive Director of Earthna Dr. Gonzalo Castro de la Mata said that Qatar Sustainability Week has become an established national platform for fostering a culture of sustainability and enhancing community participation in protecting the environment and achieving sustainable development.
He highlighted that this year's events will focus on key themes including the blue economy and ecosystem restoration, featuring family visits to mangrove forests, along with community and youth initiatives such as the Youth Festival organized by Qatar Museums through Teen Hub in Al Bidda Park on November 1 and 8.
Qatar University will launch an awareness campaign on campus, while QF will hold the Clean Plate Campaign to raise awareness on food waste and encourage responsible consumption.
Dr. Castro de la Mata emphasized the pivotal role of youth in leading sustainability efforts, noting that the program includes artistic and collective initiatives such as a collaborative artwork at Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, as well as public events at The Pearl Island, in addition to exhibitions and awareness activities at major shopping malls.
MECC's Head of Environmental Sustainability Youssef Al Awadi stated that the ministry's participation reflects its commitment to supporting national initiatives for sustainability and implementing Qatar National Vision 2030.
He noted that the ministry will organize workshops and lectures on preparing the National Transparency Report, along with educational and awareness activities.
Rashid Ali Al Jaber Al Nuaimi from the Ministry of Sports and Youth said that the ministry is integrating sustainability concepts into its sports and youth activities by developing green infrastructure and adopting sustainable practices in event management. The ministry will implement 37 youth activities and 11 sports events, in addition to internal initiatives to promote sustainability among staff.
Assistant Secretary-General for Communication and Resource Development at the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) Mohammed Al Bushri announced the launch of a new humanitarian campaign during the week aimed at collecting one million sports jerseys to support families in Gaza, in collaboration with Earthna.
He emphasized that the initiative reflects a model of strategic partnership between national institutions in the fields of humanitarian action and sustainability.
The press conference also featured remarks from strategic and community partners, including Director of the Youth Center at Qatar Museums Abdulrahman Al Ishaq; Director of Business Development at Qetaifan Projects Sheikh Nasser bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani; and Head of Environmental Health and Safety at United Development Company (UDC) Aladdin Al Sukhni.
Qatar Sustainability Week is one of the country's leading community initiatives, aimed at promoting participation from individuals and governmental and non-governmental organizations in projects and activities that highlight best practices in sustainability, in alignment with Qatar National Vision 2030.
