Qatar Ranks Third in 2025 MENA Karting Nations Cup

Doha, October 25 (QNA) - Amid a spellbinding, powerful competition, the 2025 MENA Karting Nations Cup wound up Saturday, after being organized by the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) for the third year in a row at the Lusail International Circuit Karting Track.

The three-day tournament featured 173 drivers representing 18 nations. In the overall standings, Team Qatar clinched third place with 698 points, while Team Morocco claimed the Karting Nations Cup title with 912 points, comfortably ahead of Team Lebanon, who finished second with 779 points.

The tournament organizers also presented a special Spirit of the Late Habib Al Zawawi Award, honoring Lebanese driver Jad Al Awar for his meritorious sportsmanship throughout the competition.

Additionally, a special recognition was granted to the Palestinian team delegation.

The final day of main races witnessed powerful, high-stakes action across all six classified categories.

In the DD2 category for drivers under 31, Qatari racer Hamza Hashisho claimed the title, crossing the 26-lap, 26.6 km course in 20:49.653, edging out Lebanon's Edwin Khneisser, who finished second in 20:50.229, while Algeria's Souhil Khatal secured third in 20:52.819.

In the DD2 Masters category for drivers over 31, Qatari racer Faisal Yafei secured second place, completing the 26-lap, 26.6 km course in 20:55.760, while Morocco's Nader Kabaji claimed the title with 20:51.857, and Algeria's Sofiane Salhi finished third in 21:02.857.

In the Mini Max category for drivers aged 10 to 13, Moroccan racer Nehil Jihoudi captured first place, covering the 16-lap, 16.4 km course in 13:39.266, narrowly beating UAE's Atiqa Mir, who finished second in 13:40.537, with Lebanon's Tony Abou Jaoude taking third in 13:45.727.

In the Senior Max category for drivers over 14, Moroccan racer Anis Tazi captured the title, completing the 26-lap, 26.6 km race in 20:56.775, edging out Saudi Arabia's Laith Mouminah, who finished second in 20:58.119, with Jordan's Sanad Al Hamawi taking third in 20:59.699.

In the Junior Max category for drivers aged 12 to 15, UAE's Nathan Kabbani claimed first place, crossing the 26-lap, 26.6 km course in 20:56.169, narrowly defeating Algeria's Ruslan Ser, who finished second in 20:58.569, while Saudi Arabia's Abdulrazzaq Al Quraishi took third in 21:05.974.

In the Micro Max category for drivers aged 8 to 11, Lebanon's Alex Maghreb captured first place, completing the 20-lap, 20.5 km race in 17:51.688, narrowly outpacing Kuwait's Abdulaziz Al Sarraf, who finished second in 17:56.310, with Tunisia's Linda Hani taking third in 17:57.174.

In the R390 Elite Speed category, Lebanese driver Christopher Najim claimed the title, crossing the 20-lap, 20.5 km course in 21:32.054, just 5.153 seconds ahead of fellow countryman Mateus Najim, who finished second in 21:37.207, while UAE's Ahmed Al Hammadi secured third in 21:37.425.

In the R390 Elite Endurance category, held Friday, UAE Team 1 clinched the title, completing 110 laps in 2:31.779 hours. Morocco Team 2 finished second, covering 109 laps in 2:25.321 hours, while Oman Team 2 secured third place with 109 laps in 2:45.422 hours. (QNA)
