Doha, October 11 (QNA) - The Ministry of Municipality, represented by the Organizing Committee of the 13th Qatar International Agricultural Exhibition 2026 (AgriteQ 2026), launched a photography competition covering Qatari agriculture, in partnership with the Qatar Photography Center.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Ministry of Municipality announced that applications to join the competition will open Sunday, and continue until January 15.

It added that winners will be announced on February 11, alongside the event.

Spanning three months, the competition aims to capture the beauty and diversity of the State of Qatar's agricultural landscape through professional and amateur lenses.

The winning photos will be displayed at the exhibition, in an embodiment of the constructive partnership in place among government institutions and the cultural and artistic sectors, aligning with Qatar's Third National Development Strategy and the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.

The competition seeks to highlight the local agricultural sector's added value, being a key pillar in achieving the Qatar National Vision 2030, in anticipation to future food security and sustainability needs.

The competition also aims to harness artistic creativity and modern technologies to showcase the aesthetic aspects of Qatar's agricultural scene.

In this context, AgriteQ Organizing Committee Chairman, Yousef Khalid Al Khulaifi said that the competition is part of the Ministry of Municipality's efforts to make use of visual arts in order to bring society closer to this vital sector.

He added that the initiative serves as an effective means to highlight Qatar's agricultural sector's success stories and the country's commitment to the highest international standards in sustainable agricultural production.

For his part, Director of the Qatar Photography Center, Jassim Ahmed Al Buainain said that the competition provides photographers with an opportunity to showcase their creative work and document Qatari agriculture's stages of development.

He noted that the initiative will contribute to enhancing the country's position on the global stage and presenting visuals that keep with global trends in support of environmental protection and sustainability. (QNA)
