Doha, November 14 (QNA) - Qatar and the United Arab Emirates discussed ways to strengthen joint cooperation in the fields of biodiversity protection and the management of nature reserves.
This came during an official visit by a delegation from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, headed by Dr. Ibrahim Abdul Latif Al Muslemani, who serves as Assistant Undersecretary for Protection and Nature Reserves Affairs at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, to the United Arab Emirates.
During the visit, the Qatari delegation discussed several leading environmental initiatives and projects in the UAE through field tours on the research vessel Jawyun, Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary in Dubai, the Wasit Wetland Centre in Sharjah, as well as the Plant Genetic Resources Center in Al Ain.
The delegation also held a series of meetings with officials from Emirati environmental agencies, during which they discussed prospects for cooperation and the exchange of expertise in the areas of environmental research and biodiversity protection. The meetings also included an overview of key Emirati initiatives related to conserving natural resources and developing protection programs.
Both sides affirmed the importance of strengthening environmental partnership between the two countries in a manner that supports regional and international efforts to protect biodiversity and preserve ecosystems. (QNA)
