Doha, November 10 (QNA) - President of the Qatar Camel Mzayen Club Dr. Mabkhout Bofareih said that the great success of the 2nd edition of the Mafareed Challenge Festival highlights the important role the Qatar Camel Mzayen Club plays in developing and promoting this ancestral sport, noting the festival's significance on the club's calendar.

Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Dr. Bofareih said that the Mafareed Challenge Festival is a premier sporting, cultural, and economic gathering, aimed primarily at preserving Qatar's camel heritage, protecting camels from misuse, and instilling this heritage in current and future generations.

He added that this year's event achieved remarkable success on all levels, starting with the strong turnout from camel owners in Qatar and across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, followed by intense competitions held over six days, and culminating in million-riyal deals made during the event.

The President of the Qatar Camel Mzayen Club said that he did not expect such a large number of participants from GCC countries, which included several well-known names in the world of camel beauty contests.

Dr. Bofareih added that this year's edition witnessed major improvements on all levels, be it in terms of prize values, judging mechanism, procedural transparency, and logistics, along with upgraded facilities and a variety of accompanying entertainment and cultural activities.

For his part, head of the Mafareed Challenge Festival Ali Al Hamidi congratulated the winners and expressed his gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the event, including camel owners, trainers, and the large turnout, which reflected Qatar's deep passion for this ancestral sport.

Meanwhile, chairman of the media committee Mohammad Bakhit praised the festival's success, especially on the media front, pointing to the committee's intense efforts to cover the event, providing photo coverage, daily reports, and field interviews with owners and winners, conveying the event's spirit.
