Doha, June 08 (QNA) - The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has launched a comprehensive awareness campaign on heat stress as part of its efforts to reduce work-related injuries caused by high temperatures and to prevent occupational diseases and injuries associated with workplace conditions.
The campaign aims to highlight the symptoms of heat stress and provide effective measures. It also aims to raise awareness among occupational health and safety officers in companies operating in Qatar about the importance of implementing necessary measures to prevent heat stress injuries. This initiative supports the creation of safe and healthy working environments.
As part of the campaign, MoPH has prepared awareness materials in several languages to be distributed in workplaces and shared via social media platforms and its official website, with the goal of reaching the widest possible segment of society, particularly workers.
The Ministry is also conducting awareness lectures on heat stress, its prevention, and the specific responsibilities of both workers and employers. These lectures are designed to promote healthy behavior during periods of high temperatures and to encourage the adoption of preventive practices to protect health.
Additionally, MoPH, in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour, is organizing training workshops addressing the risks of heat stress, preventive strategies, and emergency response procedures. These workshops also provide essential health guidelines for maintaining safe working environments during the summer, discuss the effects of sunlight on ocular health, and outline the risks associated with exposure. The importance of using protective equipment, such as safety glasses, for outdoor work is emphasized.
The Ministry's ongoing initiatives, including heat stress awareness campaigns, are essential in increasing public understanding of the risks associated with heat stress. (QNA)
