New York, August 26 (QNA) - The United Nations warned that the Gaza ceasefire remains fragile, while the situation in the occupied West Bank continues to deteriorate.
Addressing a UN Security Council meeting, Ramiz Alakbarov, Deputy UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, said Gaza residents continue to face unbearable conditions and immense suffering, stressing the need to fully implement the 15-point roadmap.
He said the steps should pave the way for a political process ending the illegal occupation, realizing Palestinian self-determination and advancing a two-state solution.
He also called for the immediate implementation of Security Council Resolution 2803.
Alakbarov stressed the need to restore essential services in Gaza, including healthcare, sanitation and waste management, while warning of continued restrictions on humanitarian supplies and insufficient funding.
On the West Bank, he condemned widespread settler attacks and the lack of accountability, urging Israel, as the occupying power, to protect civilians and hold perpetrators accountable.
He also condemned the reported forced entry by Israeli authorities into an UNRWA training center in East Jerusalem, calling for an end to attempts to seize or control UNRWA facilities. (QNA)
