Snap Shuts Down Gfycat
Washington, July 06 (QNA) - Image sharing company 'Snap Inc.' that owns 'Snapchat' announced that it will close down it's Graphics Interchange Format (GIF) attaching platform 'Gfycat' by Sept 1st.
The photo sharing app highly suggested that users save their GIFs before the service shuts down, as all data and content will not be available on gfycat.com.
However, it is unclear if Snapchat will merge with Gfycat or it will cease to exist as of now.
Snapchat official spokesperson remarked on the 'TechCrunch' website that Snapchat users will still be able to look up GIFs and use them in messages.
Gfycat launched in 2013, and was one of the first platforms that support converting videos into animated images, it also supports high resolution short videos, and it was acquired by Snap in 2020.
