Doha, August 05 (QNA) - Qatari club Al Shamal announced today the signing of Uruguayan defender Federico Bais on a one-year contract from Uruguayan side Nacional. 
In a statement posted on its official social media accounts, the club said the 18-year-old left-back had signed with Al Shamal as part of its plan to strengthen the squad with talented players across all positions. 
The statement added that Al Shamal is aiming for a strong season both domestically and in the AFC Champions League Elite, where it will make its debut. 
Bais is regarded as one of Uruguay's promising left-backs and is a regular for his country's youth and under-20 national teams. 
Al Shamal, who finished as runners-up in the Qatar Stars League last season, will begin their 2026-27 Doha Bank Stars League campaign against Al Arabi on Aug. 21 in the opening round of the competition. (QNA)
