Doha, May 04 (QNA) - The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs' General Directorate of Endowments launched a digital endowment, in keeping pace with developments in technology, digitization, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) and their role in developing the work of institutions, society, and human resources.
This comes as part of the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy For Qatar, which is structured around six thematic pillars which together will guide Qatar to transform itself for an AI Future.
This strategy should enable the State of Qatar to produce world-class artificial intelligence applications, have a business environment that uses AI as an engine of innovation, and become an effective AI consumer, with the country enjoying a well-educated population, sound laws, and ethical guidelines.
Moreover, this launch comes in the context of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs adopting information technology and raising its efficiency to its ultimate level.
On this occasion, Director of General Directorate of Endowments Dr. Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al-Thani said that launching digital endowment is necessary to keep pace with the tremendous developments of this age of rapid changes, and stemming from the great Islamic heritage, which laid the foundation for the scientific method and algorithms which shaped modern mathematics that gave birth to information technologies and AI.
The Director added that the goal behind launching this new endowment is to enhance information technology and AI in developing legal, educational, health and research, and other aspects that touch human lives and the environment surrounding them.
He also explained that the digital endowment will enable donors to contribute to the creation and development of purposeful digital projects in various areas that serves the community. (QNA)
