AMAN Center Launches New Initiative
Doha, June 30 (QNA) - The Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center "AMAN" of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work launched the 'We Learn with AMAN' initiative as part of its awareness programs.
In a statement on Tuesday, the center said that the awareness initiative stems from its keenness on providing comprehensive care for children, encompassing not only social and psychological aspects but also education, which is considered a cornerstone in building a child's character and enhancing their future opportunities alongside empowering children to acquire essential skills that ensure the continuity of their education and their integration into the school environment. To be achieved through the establishment of an in-house learning unit within AMAN's internal care department, this unit offers a simplified yet comprehensive educational program that addresses children's needs, provides them with a solid academic foundation within a safe and stimulating environment, and prepares them for future integration into the formal school system, it said.
It noted that the initiative is being implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, represented by the Department of Curriculum and Learning Resources, with this partnership contributing to aligning the educational program with the national curriculum and providing the necessary educational support to ensure the quality of learning outcomes. The center pointed out that coordination has been established with several volunteer teachers to provide educational lessons for children during the initiative's pilot phase, while working on the evaluation of the results and the possibility of continuing the collaboration and expanding volunteer participation to support the program's sustainability and the achievement of its objectives.
AMAN further said that the initiative targets children benefiting from the center's services in the internal care unit who face learning challenges, with the program focusing on developing reading, writing, and mathematics skills, as well as fostering personal skills and boosting self-confidence, thus preparing them for formal education and enabling them to continue their studies.
Regarding this initiative, Acting Executive Director of the Center Fadhel Al Kaabi stated that through this initiative, the center seeks to bridge the educational gap for children benefiting from its services in the internal care unit and to provide a supportive learning environment that grants them equal opportunities for learning and growth, emphasizing that it represents a significant step towards enhancing the quality of services provided to children in the internal care unit, and consolidating the principle of integration between care, protection, and education, in line with the center's vision and mission to empower children and build their future within a cohesive family environment.
While commending the partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education for its pivotal role in supporting the initiative, he lauded the efforts of the volunteer teachers who embody the values of social responsibility. (QNA)
