London, May 30 (QNA) - Liverpool FC on Saturday sacked its Dutch coach Arne Slot, while confirming at the same time the start of procedures to search for a new coach to spearhead the team during the next phase.
In an official statement, the club said it is obvious that this difficult decision had to be taken as a club, adding that the contribution Arne made to Liverpool during the period he spent was significant and had a clear impact, and most importantly, it was successful for both the fans and the club alike.
The gratitude for everything Slot achieved can't be overstated, the club underlined, especially as his success was supported by high work ethics, continuous dedication, and a level of expertise that confirmed the belief that he is one of the most prominent coaches in his field.
At the same time, Liverpool FC collectively reached the conviction that change has become necessary so that the club can continue to progress and move forward.
Slot took charge of Liverpool in June 2024, and in his first season, he succeeded in leading the team to win the Premier League title for the 20th time in its history.
He also ended the 2024-2025 season having won the Best Coach award in England, after leading the team to the Carabao Cup final and reaching the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League.
In the following season, the Dutch coach continued to achieve positive results, securing Liverpool's qualification for the UEFA Champions League for a second consecutive season, and also guiding them to the quarter-finals of the continental competition. (QNA)
