Singapore, July 03 (QNA) - HE Minister of Labour Dr. Ali bin Samikh Al Marri met today with HE Minister for Manpower of the Republic of Singapore Dr. Tan See Leng as part of His Excellency's official visit to the Republic of Singapore, accompanied by an official delegation.

His Excellency affirmed that the meeting with the Singaporean side reflects the two countries' shared commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of labour and building on the fruitful partnership established over recent years. He noted that this cooperation will facilitate the exchange of expertise, enable both sides to benefit from leading experiences, and support efforts to further develop the labour markets of both countries.

His Excellency stated that the meeting represents a new step towards strengthening cooperation between the two countries and that its outcomes will contribute to advancing the existing partnership and launching practical initiatives that support the development agenda and serve the mutual interests of both nations. He added that the State of Qatar continues to enhance its legislative and regulatory framework in line with evolving economic developments and labour market needs, while reinforcing investment in human capital.

The meeting dealt with the existing bilateral cooperation between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Singapore in the fields of labour and workforce affairs, exploring ways to strengthen and further develop this cooperation in the mutual interests of both countries. The two sides also reviewed the Memorandum of Understanding on labour cooperation between the two countries and discussed mechanisms for its implementation and how best to utilise it to support areas of mutual cooperation.

The two sides discussed opportunities to exchange expertise in labour market policy development, skills development, vocational education and training, and to benefit from the leading experiences and best practices of both countries, with a view to supporting labour market development and enhancing workforce efficiency.

They also reviewed the outcomes of the technical meetings held between officials from the two Ministries of Labour and discussed mechanisms for following up on the implementation of the key matters addressed during those meetings, thereby strengthening cooperation and coordination between the two sides.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed the importance of continuing close coordination and cooperation, promoting the exchange of expertise and experience, and further strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation in the labour sector between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Singapore.
