Doha, March 29 (QNA) - HE Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim met on Sunday with HE Ambassador of the Italian Republic to the State of Qatar Paolo Toschi.

During the meeting, they discussed cooperation relations between the State of Qatar and the Italian Republic, particularly parliamentary cooperation and ways to support and develop it.

The meeting also discussed the latest regional developments and military escalation. HE the Ambassador expressed his country's condemnation of Iran's attacks on the State of Qatar and its targeting of infrastructure, affirming Italy's full solidarity with Qatar.

For his part, HE the Shura Council Speaker reiterated the Council's condemnation of this aggression, stressing that the treacherous Iranian attack on Qatar and other brotherly countries constitutes a flagrant violation of their national sovereignty and a blatant breach of international law, the Charter of the United Nations, and ethical standards.

He warned of the serious repercussions of these attacks on security and stability in the region and the world, and demanded their immediate cessation.

Both sides stressed the importance of de-escalation and reducing tensions, and resorting to dialogue and negotiations as the primary option for settling disputes. They also emphasized the need to ensure the smooth flow of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, given its direct impact on the stability of global economy. (QNA)
