Doha, November 28 (QNA) - Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP), part of Qatar Foundation (QF), hosted during AI Week 2024 a discussion panel titled "Explore how AI can Contribute to Sustainability and Qatar's Vision 2030".

The session featured speakers such as Senior Advisor to the Dean of Georgetown University in Qatar Raha Hakimdavar, Managing Director of Iberdrola Innovation Middle East Santiago Banales, Chief Executive Officer and Founder at Applab Alhassan Alsammrai, and Chief Executive Officer of ZD Energy Amy Shang, and was moderated by Co-Founder of ebutler and Enable Tech Omar Ashour.

The participants reviewed various AI systems in their companies and discussed how these systems are connected to achieving sustainable development.

The session also covered the use of AI in autonomous vehicles, particularly electric cars, and its role in sustainability. It also explored AI applications in aircraft, satellites, space sciences, and more.

In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Omar Ashour explained that his company specializes in technology and AI, helping the local market with digital development and AI applications. He clarified that the session focused on how AI can support sustainability and increase efficiency, using the information provided by AI to make better decisions. He also highlighted the potential benefits of AI programs and applications.

In a similar statement to QNA, Alhassan Alsammrai discussed the relationship between AI, human progress, and development, emphasizing the importance of encouraging students to enhance their research through AI.

On the fourth day of AI Week, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Enbat Holdings Ghanim Al Sulaiti shared his experience with a large audience, stressing the importance of investments that promote sustainability.

In an interview with QNA, Ghanim Al Sulaiti noted that his company focuses on promoting a healthy lifestyle and has investments in sustainability and healthcare. He emphasized the role of AI in developing sustainability, linking it to technology, and pointed out that his comments aimed to stress the need for AI methods in projects that reduce carbon emissions. This, he explained, would help improve ways of obtaining information for the benefit of the community and businesses in Qatar. For example, his company uses AI to estimate food waste in their restaurants, thereby reducing unnecessary waste.

The AI Week 2024 events at QSTP will conclude on Thursday, with the participation of experts in technology, professional leaders, innovators, and academics.

AI Week is celebrating the 15th anniversary of QSTP with a diverse program that includes lectures by industry experts, panel discussions, workshops, live technology demonstrations, and inspirational speeches. The event attracts professionals, researchers, startups in AI, and technology enthusiasts from all over the world. (QNA)
