Tokyo, September 28 (QNA) - Japan's Nikkei index ended the day down 0.73% at 65,877.62 points, ending a five-session winning streak.

The Nikkei retreated after rising as much as 1% earlier in the session to hit 67,034.74 points, its highest level since mid-August.

Meanwhile, the broader Topix index fell 0.40% to 4,112.00 points.

Market breadth was negative, with only 53 stocks on the Nikkei index rising against 171 falling, while one stock remained unchanged.

The decline came alongside a drop in Nasdaq futures, as the market awaited earnings results from US memory chipmaker Micron Technology later in the week. (QNA)
