Israeli Forces Advance in Southern Syria
Damascus, July 27 (QNA) - Israeli forces advanced today into the Yarmouk Basin area in the western countryside of Daraa province in southern Syria, deploying two military vehicles and two tanks.
Local sources said Israeli forces stationed at the Al Jazira military post opened heavy fire toward residential neighborhoods in the village of Maariya in western Daraa. No casualties have been reported.
The incident came just hours after Israeli forces entered the villages of Maariya and Al Ardah, where they reopened a road that residents had previously blocked. The forces also detained a young man from the village of Taranja in the countryside of Quneitra.
Israeli forces have continued to violate the 1974 Disengagement Agreement through repeated incursions into southern Syria and by carrying out raids. Syria has repeatedly called on the international community to act to halt these operations and compel Israeli forces to withdraw fully from Syrian territory. (QNA)
