London, February 25 (QNA) – The UK has announced its largest sanctions package against Russia since the start of the Russian-Ukrainian war in 2022, in a move aimed at cutting off Moscow's critical oil revenues.

The package includes nearly 300 new sanctions targeting Russian energy revenues, particularly oil exports, as well as key suppliers of military equipment that fuel the war effort.

London confirmed that it has so far imposed sanctions on more than 3,000 individuals, entities, and vessels under its Russia sanctions regime.

The announcement coincided with British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper's visit to Kyiv, and the unveiling of a new support package designed to strengthen Ukraine’s capabilities.

The new sanctions target the giant pipeline company PJSC Transneft, which is responsible for transporting more than 80% of Russia’s oil exports, a move expected to further complicate the marketing and distribution of sanctioned Russian crude.

According to the British government, international sanctions have so far deprived Moscow of more than $450 billion, equivalent to funding two additional years of the Russia's military operation in Ukraine. (QNA)
