Doha, June 24 (QNA) - HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs, Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al-Thani, chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting held today at the Amiri Diwan.
Following the meeting, HE Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi, stated that at the outset of the meeting, the Cabinet commended the outcomes of the Lake Lucerne Summit and the first round of high-level talks held at the Burgenstock Resort in Switzerland under the Memorandum of Understanding signed in Islamabad, with the participation of representatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America, alongside the two mediating countries, the State of Qatar and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
The Cabinet affirmed that the success achieved during this round, the progress made, and the positive atmosphere that prevailed throughout the talks establish a new phase in the negotiations between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Cabinet noted that this progress would further strengthen mutual trust and the shared conviction in the value of peace and the necessity of reaching a final agreement, in line with the agreed framework.
The Cabinet expressed its pride in this milestone achieved through Qatari diplomacy within the framework of the constructive partnership with the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. It also expressed its hope that negotiations will continue in the same positive spirit and with genuine determination, leading to a final agreement that peacefully closes the chapter of conflict, contributes to enhancing regional and international security and stability, and safeguards the interests of peoples in the region and around the world.
The Cabinet also commended the State of Qatar's outstanding performance across economic, business, institutional and social indicators, as reflected in the 2026 IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook issued by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD). Qatar ranked first regionally and among the world's top five in Economic Resilience, ranked first regionally and globally in the balance of trade indicator, and recorded the world's lowest unemployment rate.

The Cabinet also expressed its appreciation for the efforts of the competent entities in responding to the incident promptly and efficiently.
The Cabinet then reviewed the topics on its agenda and noted the Shura Council's approval of a draft law on food.
The draft law, prepared by the Ministry of Public Health, aims to ensure the safety and suitability of food throughout all stages of the food chain and verify compliance with applicable requirements, thereby providing adequate protection for consumers against food-related risks.
