Nikkei Rises on AI-Linked Stocks

Tokyo, February 24 (QNA) - The Nikkei index rose on Tuesday as trading resumed after a long weekend, supported by gains in shares of companies linked to the artificial intelligence sector, amid speculation about further investment in this fast-growing sector.
The Nikkei 225 rose 0.9 percent to close at 57,321.09 points. The broader TOPIX rose 0.2 percent.
Shares of optical fiber cable manufacturers recorded strong gains, supported by a 15 percent jump in shares of Furukawa Electric.
Shares of Mitsubishi Materials rose 3.8 percent, while shares of Subaru fell 3.5 percent.
Meanwhile, shares of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries fell 3.1 percent and shares of IHI Corporation fell 5.7 percent. (QNA)
