Tunis, August 20 (QNA) - The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) announced on Thursday that Libyan parties had initialed a draft final agreement aimed at resolving the political crisis and unifying the government and institutions capable of leading the country toward elections.

In a statement, UNSMIL said the development came at the conclusion of a mini-meeting it organized in the Tunisian capital, which focused on discussions related to completing the first two steps of the roadmap proposed by the UN mission.

It added that the meeting agreed to reconvene in Libya before the end of August to establish arrangements for implementing the agreement and officially announce it.

Libya was scheduled to hold presidential and parliamentary elections in December 2021, but they were postponed indefinitely due to disagreements among the political factions. (QNA)
