Tokyo, April 20 (QNA) - Japan's Nikkei index jumped on Monday, approaching its all-time high reached last week, amid strong demand for artificial intelligence-related stocks.
The Nikkei rose 0.60 percent to close at 58,824.89 points, while the broader Topix index climbed 0.43 percent to 3,777.02 points.
Support came mainly from technology and chip stocks, with shares of SoftBank Group surging more than 5.4 percent, alongside Lasertec, amid continued momentum in the AI sector. Meanwhile, shares of Sumitomo and Furukawa Electric topped the list of losers, falling 5.9 percent and 4.2 percent respectively. (QNA)
