Google Announces Free Notebooks Feature in Gemini
Washington, April 20 (QNA) - Google has announced that the Notebooks feature within its AI assistant Gemini is now available to all users for free via the web, after previously being limited to paid subscribers. This move is a significant shift in the Gemini user experience, as it provides users with an organized space to manage projects and content instead of starting a new conversation each time.
Notebooks provides a comprehensive work environment within Gemini, allowing users to keep chats, files, and sources in one place. This enables AI to use these as references when posing new questions. The feature appears in the app's side panel, allowing users to easily save any conversation to a dedicated notebook, with the ability to customize the tone and format of responses. Users can also disable the memory feature if they prefer to retrieve answers without accessing the saved content.
One of the most important advantages of this feature is its integration with the NotebookLM tool, which allows for automatic synchronization of sources between the two applications. This enables the user to search within Gemini, and then use NotebookLM tools such as visual presentations or illustrations on the same content without having to manually transfer it.
The free version allows adding up to 50 sources within each notebook, while the limits increase in paid plans, reaching up to 600 sources in the highest category. The feature also supports all Gemini tools, including online search and other smart functions.
Currently, Notebooks is only available via the web version, but it will later reach mobile and Mac applications in the coming weeks, reflecting Google's direction towards enhancing AI-powered productivity tools and offering them to a wider segment of users at no cost. (QNA)
