Tokyo, September 02 (QNA) - Japanese shares fell at the close of trading on Wednesday, affected by renewed tensions between the United States and Iran, which pushed oil prices higher and raised concerns about an economic slowdown, while rising bond yields put pressure on growth stocks.
The Nikkei fell 2.85 percent, closing at 64,325.64 points, while the broader Topix index declined 2.4 percent to 4,081.6 points, ending a nine-session winning streak.
SoftBank Group shares plunged 6.42 percent, while Tokyo Electron and Advantest, which are linked to the chip industry, fell 3.4 percent and 2.52 percent, respectively.
Toyota Motor shares fell 3.39 percent, while Honda Motor lost 2.37 percent. Shares of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group and Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group also declined 0.43 percent and 0.54 percent, respectively. (QNA)
