LoginEurozone Inflation Rises to 3.2 Percent in May
Brussels, June 02 (QNA) - Inflation in the eurozone rose to 3.2 percent year-on-year in May.
Preliminary data released today by Eurostat, the European statistics office, showed that the rise in inflation was driven by a sharp increase in energy prices as a result of the war in the Middle East, as well as higher prices for services and manufactured goods.
Meanwhile, core inflation, which excludes energy and food prices, rose to 2.5 percent in May, compared to economists' expectations of 2.4 percent.
According to Eurostat, Bulgaria recorded the highest inflation rate in the eurozone in May at 6.3 percent year-on-year, while Malta had the lowest at 2.1 percent. (QNA)
