Arab League Launches Initiative to Support Scientific Research in Conflict-Affected Regions
Cairo, November 17 (QNA) - The Arab League launched an initiative to support scientific research in Arab countries affected by conflict.
The initiative aims to train and support researchers in crisis-affected areas, rehabilitate and rebuild research centers, and facilitate access to global research resources through partnerships with academic publishers and research institutions.
In her remarks, Director of the Department of Health and Humanitarian Aid and at the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, Maissa Hidmi, affirmed that the initiative is both a humanitarian and developmental effort.
She said it reflects a spirit of cooperation and shared responsibility toward countries and communities harmed by wars and conflicts.
It is also a call to rethink the concept of humanitarian support so that it goes beyond rebuilding individuals to strengthening institutions and enabling communities to regain their capacity for self-reliance.
Hidmi noted that the Arab League has worked to advance scientific and technological research across the Arab region through the Arab Strategy for Scientific Research, Technology, and Innovation, in cooperation with the Association of Arab Research Councils, the Association of Arab Universities, and the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO).
