Bahrain Welcomes Ceasefire Agreement in Lebanon
Manama, April 17 (QNA) - Bahrain welcomed the US announcement made by President Donald Trump that Lebanon and Israel agreed to a ceasefire.
The Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the country's appreciation for the US efforts that led to this agreement, commending the Lebanese President’s initiative to activate the diplomatic track and contain the escalation, leading to sustainable peace.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed Bahrain’s firm position in support of Lebanon’s security, stability, unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and Lebanon’s efforts to confine weapons to the hands of the state, stressing the importance of direct negotiations between the Lebanese and Israeli sides under American auspices, as a strategic option to achieve a permanent ceasefire, and to strengthen the role of Lebanese state institutions and extend their authority over all of its territory, through the full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution No. (1701) and the Taif Agreement, in a way that enhances security, stability, and prosperity in Lebanon, and contributes to consolidating regional peace and security.
