Eight Killed in Helicopter Crash in Indonesia
Jakarta, April 17 (QNA) - Eight people were killed when a helicopter crashed in Indonesia's West Kalimantan province, with search and rescue teams continuing efforts to recover the victims and wreckage.
Head of Indonesia's National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), Muhammad Syafii, said contact with the Airbus H130 helicopter was lost about five minutes after it took off from a plantation area in Melawi district.
He added that the crash site is located in a densely forested area with steep terrain, complicating rescue operations. Teams have located debris believed to be part of the helicopter's tail section.
Local authorities said all eight people on board -- six passengers and two crew members -- were killed in the crash.
The cause of the incident remains unknown, and an investigation is underway. (QNA)
