Riyadh, May 15 (QNA) - Saudi Arabia welcomed the prisoner exchange agreement reached in Amman on Thursday between the Yemeni government and Houthis, calling it a positive step toward reducing the humanitarian suffering of detainees and their families.
In a statement, the Saudi Foreign Ministry praised the efforts of all parties involved in finalizing the agreement, as well as Jordan's role in hosting the negotiations over recent months. It also acknowledged the contributions of the UN Special Envoy for Yemen and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
The ministry reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's support for efforts aimed at achieving peace, security, and stability in Yemen in line with the aspirations of the Yemeni people.
The Yemeni government announced Thursday that it had signed a prisoner exchange deal with Houthis covering 1,728 detainees from both sides during talks held in Amman. (QNA)
