5.0-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Indonesia
Jakarta, April 15 (QNA) – An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale struck on Wednesday east of Sumbawa Island in Indonesia.
The earthquake occurred at a depth of 469 km, Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported.
No tsunami warnings were issued.
Indonesia lies on the Pacific Ring of Fire, where numerous tectonic plates meet, resulting in frequent volcanic and seismic activity. (QNA)
