European Union Launches "Team Gaza Initiative"
Brussels, July 13 (QNA) - The European Commission announced the launch of the "Team Gaza Initiative" together with 15 partners, with an initial amount of EUR 883.6 million.
In its press release Monday, the Commission noted that the Initiative was launched at the Palestine Donor Group meeting in Brussels to support the implementation of ongoing and planned early recovery projects for the people of Gaza.
Aside from itself, the European Commission said that 12 European countries joined the initiative, in addition to Japan, the European Investment Bank and the World Bank.
The 2nd meeting of the Palestine Donor Group (PDG) was co-chaired by Palestinian Authority's (PA) Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa and Commissioner for the Mediterranean Dubravka Suica.
The meeting featured EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas and the representatives of donor countries, donor institutions, and international partners, to discuss support for the Palestinian government and strengthen the response to the early recovery and reconstruction needs in the Gaza Strip.
