Arab League, GCC Discuss Arab and Regional Issues
Cairo, August 13 (QNA) - Secretary General of the League of Arab States Nabil Fahmy met on Thursday with Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi to discuss a number of Arab and regional issues of mutual concern, in light of the rapidly evolving situation in the region.
In a statement, the Arab League said the meeting addressed the latest regional developments, particularly those related to the security and stability of the Gulf states and their implications for Arab national security. The discussion also covered several priority Arab issues, ways to enhance coordination and integration between the Arab League and the GCC in addressing them, prospects for developing cooperation between the two secretariats, and strengthening consultation and coordination mechanisms in the coming period, in a way that advances joint Arab action and unify efforts in confronting current regional challenges.
Both sides emphasized the importance of continued consultation and coordination to strengthen the unified Arab position on the issues and challenges facing the region and to support efforts to maintain security and stability and safeguard Arab interests. (QNA)
