Port Sudan, November 11 (QNA) - Sudan's Sovereign Council Chairman General Abdel Fattah Al Burhan met with Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Tom Fletcher, to discuss ceasefire efforts and the delivery of aid amid intensifying clashes between the army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
Al Burhan stressed Sudan's commitment to working with the United Nations, particularly on humanitarian issues, while urging international agencies to respect the country's sovereignty and national interests, citing recent atrocities in El Fashir.
Fletcher described the talks as constructive, noting that discussions focused on ensuring humanitarian access across war-hit areas.
He also met Sudanese Foreign Minister Mohieldin Salem and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, who is visiting Sudan, to review ceasefire proposals.
The conflict, now in its second year, continues to spread from Darfur, seized by the RSF last month, into neighboring Kordofan. (QNA)
