Doha, May 10 (QNA) - Al Arabi Sports Club claimed the title of the 2026 Amir Cup Athletics Championship for men and women after finishing top of the standings at the conclusion of the two-day competition organized by the Qatar Athletics Federation at Suheim bin Hamad Stadium.
The championship featured the participation of nine clubs: Al Ahli, Al Arabi, Al Sadd, Al Gharafa, Qatar SC, Al Wakrah, Al Shamal, Al Khor, and Al Rayyan.
Al Arabi secured the title after topping the standings with 262 points, ahead of Al Ahli, which finished second with 148 points.
Al Rayyan came third with 113 points, followed by Al Gharafa in fourth place with 77 points, Al Sadd fifth with 76 points, Al Wakrah sixth with 66 points, Al Khor seventh with 56 points, Qatar SC eighth with 46 points, and Al Shamal ninth with 33 points.
The triumph marks Al Arabi's second athletics title this week after winning the Qatar Cup for youth boys and girls, further strengthening the club's chances of securing the overall athletics excellence shield for the current season under the points-based system adopted by the Qatar Athletics Federation.
At the conclusion of the event, Qatar Athletics Federation President Mohammed Issa Al Fadala crowned Al Arabi with the championship trophy, while Al Ahli and Al Rayyan received second- and third-place honors respectively.
The Amir Cup Athletics Championship marks the conclusion of the domestic athletics season.  (QNA)
