Gold Rises Amid US Interest Rate Hike Expectations
Singapore, October 01 (QNA) - Gold prices rose slightly today, supported by declining expectations of a US interest rate hike this month following lower-than-expected inflation data, as markets await US jobs data for clues on monetary policy.
Spot gold rose 0.5% to $4,175.19 per ounce, starting the month on an upward note after dropping more than 6% in September, while US gold futures for December delivery climbed 0.4% to $4,204.80.
Among other precious metals, silver rose 1.2% to $61.11 per ounce, platinum increased 0.7% to $1,717.35, and palladium climbed 0.3% to $1,207.12. (QNA)
