Doha, August 06 (QNA) - The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) has announced that it had taken legal measures against four facilities operating as wellness spas (massage).

The move came following the detection of violations involving the publication of advertisements containing images and content that violate public decency and run roughshod over the religious values, customs, and traditions upheld by the nation.

A statement from MOCI on Wednesday clarified that these kinds of practices are considered an unequivocal breach of the provisions of Article No. 2 of Law No. 8 of 2008 on consumer protection. Accordingly, official violation notices were issued against the non-compliant establishments, which have been referred to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and to undertake the necessary legal actions.

These measures came as part of the ministry's commitment to protecting the community from any indecent marketing practices and promoting a responsible commercial environment that abides by the rules and respects communal values, the statement highlighted.

The statement stressed that inspection teams will continue to undertake their surveillance missions to ensure all commercial establishments adhere to the rules regulating advertisements and services.

The ministry called on all citizens and residents to report any infractions or abuses via the call center at 16001 or through its official accounts on social media platforms. (QNA)
