Qatari Newspapers Editorials
Doha, February 06 (QNA) - In their Tuesday editorial, Qatari newspapers highlighted the Ministry of Social Development and Family Affairs' launch of the 'Family Charter' under the theme: 'Family is the treasure of a nation', in a critical step towards promoting familial values and the role of the family in building a tight-knit and sustainable community.
The newspapers unanimously agreed that Qatar's 'Family Charter' represents the legal framework that governs family relationships in the country, focusing on the rights and responsibilities of individuals within families to achieve balance and justice in these relationships.
The papers also highlighted HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani's meeting on Monday with HE Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) Philippe Lazzarini. This meeting underscored the State of Qatar's appreciation for the critical role performed by UNRWA in helping millions of people in the Gaza Strip, West Bank, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon. Based on this, Qatar has doubled its pledges to UNRWA in recent years, stressing that Doha will spare no effort to support its programs and projects to meet the humanitarian needs of the Palestinians.
For its part, Al-Raya newspaper emphasized Qatar's continuous efforts to maintain a strong and cohesive family. Families are the cornerstone of building, shaping, and fortifying society. They play a fundamental role in combatting social ills and external influences. Strong and cohesive families, capable of fulfilling their role in preparing future generations for sustainable development and maintaining their well-being, are the collective responsibility of all parties involved. This includes reviving the values of the social and cultural traditions.
The launch of the Ministry of Social Development and Family Affairs' 'Family Charter' under the theme "Family is the treasure of a nation," is a critical step towards promoting familial values and the role of family in building a tight-knit and sustainable community. The charter was inaugurated through the signing of a giant mural across many places such as the Dadu Children's Museum at Expo 2023 Doha, Wisdom Square, and Wefaq Centre. The mural includes a substantial number of signers and will have a positive impact on reinforcing awareness and adhering to joint responsibility. The mural, available across the nation, aims to garner a significant number of signatures by explaining the signers' rights and duties, the paper said.
The State of Qatar has launched many pioneering initiatives for family cohesion, providing all appropriate conditions to play its role in building a cohesive, strong, and solid society in the face of challenges, most notable is the Family Charter, which believes in the great value that the family represents, the paper added.
Al-Raya concluded its editorial by saying that the launch of this charter came to be, as HE Minister of Social Development and Family Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad affirmed, a decisive step towards strengthening family ties and achieving sustainable development, especially since the family is the cradle of individuals, not only in terms of care but also in instilling religious and moral values in the hearts of children in light of the cultural onslaught and attempts to spread destructive ideas that undermine societal security and stability.
In a similar vein, Al-Watan newspaper highlighted that Qatar has taken a groundbreaking step in the Middle East and North Africa region by launching the Family Charter. The charter was unveiled by HE Minister of Social Development and Family Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad along with several of Their Excellencies through signing the mural, becoming an important document to guide the local community on the principles and values that govern family relationships and social development. Considering that the family is the nucleus of society, it is vital to achieve the national development plans and strategies for 2030, and what it stipulated in the United Nations charters to the future of the family and confront its challenges.
Qatar's Family Charter represents the legal framework governing family relationships within the country. It focuses on the rights and responsibilities of individuals within the family unit, seeking to maintain balance and justice in these relationships. The charter covers various aspects, including financial and economic rights, the protection of children and women's rights, and the promotion of justice and mutual respect within families. It serves as a constitution for families, defining the values and principles that govern family relationships and interactions within society. The charter is classified as a formal agreement to manage expectations and define the decision-making process and responsibilities, the paper noted.
In conclusion, Al-Watan saw that this charter ensures that every member of the family has the right to language and identity, and it outlines the family's responsibilities towards society, in addition to its obligations towards children and parents, and the rights of individuals to national education, child and mother protection, and human development. It also underscores the right to expression, dialogue, and parental care, as well as cultural, ethical, and religious heritage. Furthermore, it highlights the importance of mutual respect and the duty to serve society and the nation. (MORE)
