Doha, February 19 (QNA) - HE Attorney-General Dr. Issa bin Saad Al Jafali Al Nuaimi ordered the referral of two physicians working in one of the private medical centers, along with a nurse working at the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) to the competent criminal court to be prosecuted for their crimes.
In a statement Monday, the Public Prosecution stated that it has completed the investigations with the defendants (All are residents) who were previously arrested in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), when the MoPH staffers- who were granted the status of judicial officers- exposed these crimes and reported them to the Public Prosecution.
The investigations conducted by the Public Prosecution revealed that the defendants had obtained amounts of money illegally in exchange of issuing fake medical certificates including sick leaves for some individuals working in many government entities to help them secure official leave from their employers, and did not keep the medical records of those individuals to whom sick leave certificates were issued.
The acts of the defendants constituted an offence of forgery and breached the code of ethics and rules of the profession of medicine, the Public Prosecution confirmed. (QNA)
