Kuala Lumpur, November 09 (QNA) - The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) highlighted Qatar's World Cup debut in a report dealing with Group A teams in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

The AFC report said that Qatar enter the World Cup competitions sitting in 50th place in the FIFA standings. It also highlighted the career of Spanish coach Felix Sanchez, who is one of the youngest coaches in the World Cup.

The 46-year-old, who led Qatar to win the Asian Cup in 2019, seeks to qualify for the last 16 in the World Cup, according to the report.

The report also highlighted the role of striker Akram Afif in scoring and assisting as one of the most prominent footballers that the Qatari team relies on to go far in the World Cup.

Afif played for Belgium's Eupen and Spanish Sporting Gijon before joining the Al Sadd, which was crowned champions of the 2021-22 Qatar Stars League.

The report highlighted the history and the most prominent players of the other three sides in Group A. (QNA)
