Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra to Organize Concert at Katara on Tuesday
Doha, November 02 (QNA) - The Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra (QPO) will perform alongside Colombian musicians at Katara's Drama Theatre on Tuesday, showcasing Colombia's musical heritage while underscoring the role of international cooperation and intercultural dialogue in bringing communities closer together.
The concert, organized in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Colombia in Qatar, Qatar Music Academy and Katara Cultural Village, is part of an initiative to advance cultural and educational exchange through a series of musical and training activities.
The performance will conclude a joint program featuring educational sessions, rehearsals and workshops at Qatar Music Academy, with the participation of QPO musicians. The activities give young Colombians an opportunity to develop their musical skills and exchange expertise with musicians and students in Qatar, while engaging directly with Academy students to strengthen artistic ties between the younger generations of both countries.
The program features a selection of works rooted in Colombia's musical heritage, including "La Pollera Colorá", "Fiesta en Turbaco", "Mi Buenaventura", "La Lorenza", "Matildelina", "Atlántico" and "Colombia, Tierra Querida", alongside an array of internationally renowned musical works.
The initiative reflects QPO's commitment to supporting music education and opening up distinctive opportunities for young talent to learn, train and perform together. It also seeks to strengthen artistic connections among musicians from diverse cultural backgrounds.
The event also underscores the instrumental role of cultural diplomacy in bringing societies closer through music, creating opportunities for interaction and an interchange of knowledge between young people and professional musicians, while familiarizing audiences with different musical traditions. Its ambitions extend beyond artistic performances to building lasting cultural and human connections.
The initiative falls under the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Cultural and Sports Diplomacy Initiative, launched in 2011 to advance peace, social inclusion and artistic development through international cultural exchange.
Marking its 15th anniversary this year, the initiative provides children and young people in underserved communities across Colombia with opportunities to develop their artistic talents and take part in international cultural experiences.
Founded in 2007, QPO performs Western and Arab musical works at home and abroad. It seeks to inspire generations, encourage musical creativity and bring cultures closer together. (QNA)
