Doha, November 07 (QNA) - Lusail Stadium, the biggest stadium of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, has a special importance as it will host the tournaments final on December 18, which is also Qatar National Day.

Lusail Stadium, which has a capacity of 80,000 seats, embodies Qatars ambition and enthusiasm of sharing the Arab culture with the whole world. Its design blends the ancient and modern Islamic architecture, where the exterior is decorated with Arabic geometric shapes designed in an innovative way that allows sunlight to enter the stadium.

The stadium is located in the center of the modern city of Lusail, 20 km north of Doha. Lusail will be the city of the future as it has all the facilities and elements of modern life, in addition to its important historical value in the hearts of Qataris.

The design reflects the hand-crafted bowls. The sleek and bold design of this arena will leave football fans stunned; the golden exterior will fade replicating aged metal handicrafts to create a venue alive with cultural character.

The stadium facade is crowned with a roof made of carefully selected materials, which spreads shade throughout the stadium, but at the same time allows the sunlight to touch the first-class grass on the stadium pitch.

When the sun sets, state-of-art lighting will create a perfect harmony and interaction between the stadium lights and the open spaces in its facade, to mimic the glow of a lantern that welcomes the fans coming towards the stadium.

Upon entering the stadium, visitors will be greeted by a dazzling spectacle of 80,000 football fans, painting a palette of vibrant colors accompanied by a wall of sound. The roof and arched sides of the stadium echo the songs and cheers of the fans in the ears of all who embrace it. 

Lusail Stadium will host 10 matches in Qatar World Cup, which is the largest number of matches compared to the rest of the stadiums. The Stadium will host 6 matches in the group stage, one Round of 16 match, one quarter-finals, one semi-finals, in addition to the final match.

The match between Argentina and Saudi Arabia will be the first for Group C, it will also host Brazil's confrontation with Serbia for Group G, then Argentina will play again with Mexico, and for Group H, Portugal will meet with Uruguay, and Saudi Arabia will play against Mexico for the third group, and finally Cameroon will face Brazil.

Lusail Stadium will leave a global sporting and cultural legacy that extends beyond the World Cup in Qatar. It will gain a special place in the hearts of people in the region as host of the World Cup. The prestigious position of the Stadium in this tournament will be a symbol of inspiration to promising generations of young male and female athletes, as well as encouraging members of the community in general to adopt more active lifestyles.

The stadium will also benefit other sporting projects that will receive its demountable seats which will be donated when the tournament ends.

After removing majority of its seats, Lusail Stadium will be transformed into a community space of schools, shops, coffee shops, sporting facilities and health clinics.

The seats in the upper part of the stadium will be ingeniously transformed into balconies and spaces for visitors. Leaving these seats along with the Stadium’s roof with the aim of recalling the glorious sporting history of this edifice in people's minds.

Lusail Stadium will become a model in sustainable stadiums development through the adoption of environmentally friendly building practices, conservation of energy, donation of seats, and the integration into a vibrant city.

Fans holding a "Hayya" card can take advantage of free transportation services via modern public transportation across Qatar. Fans will be able to directly access Lusail Stadium through the Doha Metro via Lusail Station on the Red Line, which is located a short distance from the stadium.

Private car drivers and their escorts can reach the stadium via Al Khor Expressway, and parking and transportation are available near the stadium. After the World Cup, it will be possible to reach the stadium via the light tram network in Lusail City.

Lusail Stadium received two prestigious certificates in the sustainability of design and construction, from the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS), in recognition of the commitment to sustainability standards during the design and construction stages of this architectural edifice.

Lusail Stadium also achieved a five-star rating under the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS), which is administered by the Gulf Organization for Research & Development (GORD), and a Class A* rating for GSAS Construction Management.

All stadiums that will host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 are obligated to meet the requirements for obtaining a minimum four-star certificate from the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS). which was adopted by FIFA for its sustainability rating, to ensure that the infrastructure of the tournament adheres to stringent environmental standards.
