Doha, September 09 (QNA) - The Ministry of Sports and Youth, represented by the Department of Youth Centers and Organizations, has concluded its 2026 Summer Activities program, with 36,438 participants, including 24,040 males and 12,398 females. The program also included 427 people with disabilities, reflecting the inclusiveness of the activities and the diversity of groups they served.
The summer program involved 30 youth centers and organizations, which offered 583 specialized activities and programs over the course of the program. They covered educational, training, cultural, sports, technology, environmental and volunteer activities, broadening access to summer programs and providing comprehensive experiences that met young people's interests and aspirations while helping develop their abilities and skills.
Director of the Department of Youth Centers and Organizations at the Ministry of Sports and Youth, Fawaz Abdullah Al Musaifri, said the summer program reflected the ministry's efforts to strengthen the role of youth centers and organizations in empowering young people and expanding their community participation through high-quality programs that respond to their interests and help develop their abilities.
He said the summer program represented a practical translation of the ministry's strategic approach to empowering young people and promoting their active participation in Qatar's comprehensive development.
He added that the ministry had sought to offer diverse and inclusive programs closely aligned with young people's interests, combining skills development with the promotion of national identity, the reinforcement of community values, and support for creativity, innovation and volunteer work.
He pointed out that the results of the summer program reflected the development of the youth-work system and the expanding reach of programs offered by youth centers and organizations. The figures recorded this year demonstrated the effectiveness of the youth-work system and would encourage the ministry to continue developing its programs and measuring their impact in line with young people's aspirations and to strengthen their role as genuine partners in the present and in shaping the future.
Head of the Programs Section at the Youth Organizations and Centers Department, Fatima Al Marwani, said the section had maintained continuous field monitoring of programs and activities throughout the summer, including regular visits to youth centers and organizations to assess the quality of implementation and how well programs met participants' needs, as well as levels of engagement and satisfaction.
She said the section had sought to meet the highest standards of quality in delivering programs, including in organization and content, the safety of the training environment, staff competence and the diversity of activities. Feedback from participants and supervisors was also taken into account on an ongoing basis to improve the experience, achieve the highest levels of satisfaction and respond to the aspirations of young people and their families.
The summer program also recorded significant participation by national and community-based personnel. A total of 3,093 trainers and supervisors and 1,979 volunteers took part in implementing the programs and activities, alongside 386 partnerships and collaborations with government entities and national and community institutions.
The average number of participants per activity was about 62.5, while the average number of trainers and supervisors was 5.3 per activity and the average number of volunteers was 3.4 per activity. The figures reflect the scale of the organizational and human effort that went into implementing the summer program and reaching its target groups.
The programs and activities focused on the pillars of Qatar's National Youth Policy, ensuring a diverse and integrated range of experiences for young people and linking them to their needs and aspirations in the areas of personal, community and national development.
The youth, education, research and innovation pillar ranked first in terms of the number of activities, with 148 events attended by 8,446 participants. The youth health pillar drew the largest number of participants, with 9,775 taking part in 123 activities.
The program also included 115 activities under the pillar of full and active youth participation, with 5,059 participants, and 111 activities under the youth and social issues pillar, with 6,700 participants. In addition, 38 activities were held under the youth and environment pillar, attracting 2,438 participants.
Under the youth, social media and information technology pillar, 35 activities were held with 2,581 participants, while the employment, labor and entrepreneurship pillar included 13 activities attended by 1,439 participants.
The summer program featured a broad range of awareness, training, cultural, sports, technology, environmental and volunteer activities, as well as initiatives focused on entrepreneurship and developing future skills. The activities were intended to help build balanced, socially conscious young people who are capable of taking initiative, innovating and playing an active role in serving their communities.
The summer program was carried out through broad institutional cooperation with a number of national entities, including the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Municipality, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Primary Health Care Corporation, Qatar Museums, the National Cyber Security Agency, Hamad Medical Corporation, Qatar Tourism, the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa), Mwani Qatar, the Qatar Olympic Committee and the Qatar Foundation for Social Work.
The partnerships underscored the importance of coordinating roles among national institutions and pooling efforts to provide youth programs with a lasting impact, combining educational value and enjoyment, helping build skills and reinforce positive behaviors, and opening broader opportunities for young people to discover their abilities and develop their talents.
